West Seattle Reign offers two basketball seasons each year — Spring and Fall — for boys and girls in 3rd through 8th grade, and competitive travel teams for boys in 8th grade through high school.

We typically form one team per age group and gender, and while tryouts may be held concurrently, all teams are single-gender (not co-ed).

Development Teams (Boys & Girls, Grades 3–8)

• Focus on skill development, team play, and foundational growth
• Participate in local leagues and 2 local tournaments per season
• Practice twice a week (one weekday, one weekend)
• Open to a wide range of skill levels
   

Competitive Travel Teams (Boys Only, Grades 8–12)

• Designed for athletes ready for advanced team play and higher competition
• Participate in league play, 5–7 tournaments, and up to 2 out-of-state events
• Practice twice a week on weeknights
• Out-of-state locations may include Portland, Las Vegas, or California
• High School teams are boys only; we do not currently offer HS girls teams

Spring 2025

• Tryouts: March
• Practices Start: March
• Season Runs: March through June
   

Fall 2025

• Tryouts: August
• Practices Start: September
• Season Runs: September through mid-November

Final schedules will be shared at tryouts. All teams will practice twice a week and participate in league play and tournaments.

• Development Teams (Grades 3–5): $1,200–$1,400
• Development Teams (Grades 6–8): $1,400–$1,800
• Elite Travel Teams (Grade 8): $1,900–$2,200
• High School Travel Teams (Grades 9–12): $1,900–$2,200
   

Costs vary slightly based on team level and travel schedule.

All practices are held in West Seattle. Specific team practice schedules will be announced at tryouts and depend on team placement.

• Grades 3–8 generally practice once during the week and once on the weekend.
   
• High School teams typically practice twice on weeknights.
   
• Weeknight practices are scheduled Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday between 7:00–10:00 PM.

To complete registration and participate in our programs, all athletes must provide the following:

• Proof of Age and Grade
• Active AAU Membership (required for court insurance)
• Signed Waiver
   

All documents must be submitted prior to participation.

An active AAU membership is required for all athletes attending tryouts — even if they are not selected for a team. Please bring a screenshot or printed copy of your athlete’s current AAU membership to check-in on tryout day.

We use TeamSnap to handle everything from tryout registration to team communication and scheduling. A TeamSnap account is required to register for tryouts and will be used throughout the season if your athlete is offered a spot.
